Dear Parent:

Fruits, vegetables and whole grain snacks! What a great nutritious idea. Research indicates most children do not eat enough fruits, vegetables, and whole grains on a daily basis. These snacks are loaded with vitamins, minerals and high fiber to provide energy for peak performance in school.
We are asking that you as parents provide healthy and nutritious snacks for your child this school year. Here are some easy ideas for school snacks for birthday celebrations, class parties and school lunches:

  • Any fruit
  • Any vegetable
  • Cheese and whole grain crackers
  • Celery with low fat cream cheese
  • Yogurt
  • Crunchy granola bars
  • 100% fruit juice or water
  • Pretzels
  • Pudding cups
  • Rice cakes

Add a protein such as a cube of cheese or a little peanut butter for a satisfying, long–lasting snack. Please be aware of our peanut–free classrooms.
