Technology Office
Our Technology
Modern school districts rely heavily on technology, and the Clementon School District is no different. With the goals of preparing our students for an increasingly computerized world and providing the staff with efficient ways to perform their daily tasks, the Technology Office manages both the visible and the behind-the-scenes technology investments. Our network infrastructure includes:
- Over 250 end-user systems, including three mobile computer labs
- Six servers providing file, print, mail, web, authentication, name resolution, addressing, and a host of other services
- An enterprise-grade hierarchical switching fabric
- Fiber-optic Internet connection
- 802.11g wireless partial-building coverage
The District Website
In order to project a more professional and modern image, the district relaunched its website at the onset of the 2008–2009 school year, beginning with the homepage and a small selection of supporting pages. The new website template is designed to enhance and streamline the user experience, and has been a resounding success in that regard. In addition, the site fully conforms to the W3C HTML 4.01 standard. The technology department strongly believes in benefits of web standards, which guarantee interoperability, maximize visibility, assist accessibility, reduce bandwidth utilization, and improve development time. More information on the benefits of web standards can be obtained from the Web Standards Project or the Web Standards Group.
Our Technology Coordinator
Upon Ms. Donna Stephan's retirement in 2008, the district hired Mr. Matt Duffield as Technology Coordinator in July. Mr. Duffield had worked for school districts for several years prior, and is well-versed in network administration in the educational environment.
Mr. Duffield graduated in 2002 from Stevens Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Engineering degree, and received his Master of Engineering in 2004 from the same institution. Mr. Duffield also has several IT certifications, including the CompTIA A+ (acquired in 2004), CompTIA Network+ (2005), Cisco CCNA (2007), CompTIA Security+ (2008), and Cisco CCNP (2010).
Mr. Duffield also owns a small IT consulting firm, Duff Technology, and specializes in web development and small-business network management.
